Department Profile:
The Department of Zoology in Hooghly Women's College started its journey in the year 2006 as a subject in BSc General course followed by the introduction as Honours subject in 2015 with a noble aim at imparting sound education in biological sciences. Zoology being one of the tiers of natural sciences, the department offers both Honours and General courses, rendering an academic ambiance which is rich in contribution to national commitment towards quality education along with practical experiences. This course structure is uniquely designed; it covers teaching through fieldwork and laboratory research for practical exposure to the students. Further, the department organizes seminars, workshops, and guest lectures that extend the student's knowledge of animal biology and their ecological systems. The department aims at imparting deep knowledge about zoology in order to inspire students toward better environmental consciousness. |
